Not a diagnosis, dose, or listing recommendation. ## What it computes Sum the five Manning 1980 fetal biophysical profile variables, each 2 if the caller assigns normal and 0 if abnormal, and return score 0-10. ## When to use When an agent already has caller-assigned Manning 1980 normal-or-abnormal flags for the five biophysical variables and needs the published 0-10 total, not a delivery order, ultrasound, or later management band. ## When not to use - Not a medical device and not a delivery, induction, or cesarean order. - magent does not ultrasound and does not record a nonstress test. Each variable is a caller-assigned normal (true, 2 points) or abnormal (false, 0 points) flag using Manning 1980 definitions. - Manning 1980 normal fetal breathing is at least one 60-second episode in 30 minutes; qualitative amniotic fluid is a 1 cm pocket in two perpendicular planes. Later 30-second breathing and 2 cm pocket cuts are not used. - Manning 1980 reported perinatal mortality from 0 when all five were normal to 600 per 1,000 when all were abnormal.
