## What it computes

Compute neonatal glucose infusion rate in mg/kg/min from dextrose concentration and infusion rate using the unit conversion used with the 2011 AAP postnatal glucose homeostasis report.

## When to use

When an agent already has dextrose percent and either ml/h plus weight or ml/kg/h and must not order dextrose, TPN, or treat GIR as a glucose prescription.

## When not to use

- Not a medical device. Not a glucose or TPN prescription. magent does not order dextrose.
- GIR = (dextrose_percent × rate_ml_h) / (6 × weight_kg), or (dextrose_percent × rate_ml_kg_h) / 6. Provide rate_ml_h with weight_kg, or rate_ml_kg_h, not both rate styles.
- dextrose_percent 2.5-25, weight_kg 0.4-10, rate_ml_h 0.5-200, and rate_ml_kg_h 0.5-20 are magent clamps; they are not AAP 2011 input bands.
- AAP 2011 describes intravenous D10W at 5 to 8 mg/kg per minute (80 to 100 mL/kg per day) for persistent hypoglycemia. magent reports gir_mg_kg_min only and does not classify that treatment range or order fluids.
- Caller supplies dextrose concentration and infusion rate. magent does not assay plasma glucose.

- `dextrose_percent` (number, required): Dextrose concentration as percent (2.5-25, magent clamp; AAP 2011 does not publish an input band). 10 is D10W. magent does not order dextrose.
- `rate_ml_h` (number, optional): Infusion rate in ml/h (0.5-200, magent clamp; AAP 2011 does not publish an input band). Provide this with weight_kg, or provide rate_ml_kg_h, not both rate styles.
- `weight_kg` (number, optional): Weight in kg (0.4-10, magent clamp; AAP 2011 does not publish an input band). Required with rate_ml_h. Not required when rate_ml_kg_h is the only rate. magent does not weigh the infant.
- `rate_ml_kg_h` (number, optional): Infusion rate in ml/kg/h (0.5-20, magent clamp). GIR = (dextrose_percent × rate_ml_kg_h) / 6. Provide this or rate_ml_h plus weight_kg, not both rate styles.

## Guarantees

- HTTP 402 is unpaid, including a missing query. After PAYMENT-SIGNATURE, invalid parameters return HTTP 400 before settlement. You are not charged. HTTP 402 never includes the tool JSON.
- exact: settlement finishes before the tool (paymentFlow upfront). batch-settlement: verify/deposit before the tool; chargedCumulativeAmount commits after HTTP 2xx. Uncertain or failed settlement fails closed (HTTP 503). Retry the same PAYMENT-SIGNATURE.
- HTTP 402 is unpaid only. Do not sign a second authorization because of a 503.
- Execution is timeout-bounded and concurrency-capped.
