Not a medical device. Not a diagnosis, dose, or listing recommendation.

What it computes

Compute the Griffin 2000 Cambridge logistic probability of undetected type 2 diabetes from age, sex, BMI, prescribed antihypertensive medication, prescribed steroids, first-degree family history, and smoking.

When to use

When an agent has those routinely collected Griffin 2000 predictors as assigned by the caller and needs the published logistic probability of undetected type 2 diabetes. Not FINDRISC points, not the ADA risk test, and not a glucose assay.

When not to use

  • Not a medical device. magent does not diagnose type 2 diabetes and does not assay glucose.
  • Griffin 2000 logistic model of undetected (prevalent) type 2 diabetes. Not a 10-year incidence model. Not FINDRISC points. Not the ADA diabetes risk test.
  • Age is clamped to 40-64 years, the Griffin 2000 derivation range. BMI 10-80 is a magent clamp; magent does not compute BMI from height and weight.
  • antihypertensive, steroids, family_history, and smoking are caller-assigned. magent does not read a medication list, take a pedigree, or take a smoking history.
  • Returns probability on 0-1. Griffin 2000 does not print a screening cutoff; later papers' 0.11 / 0.15 / 0.37 thresholds are not this tool.
  • Intercept is -6.322 as published. magent does not invert the sign of the intercept.

Formula

p = 1/(1+e^(-λ)); λ = -6.322 -0.879*(sex=female) + 1.222*antihypertensive + 2.191*steroids + 0.063*age + bmi + family + smoking; BMI <25 -> 0, >=25 and <27.5 -> 0.699, >=27.5 and <30 -> 1.97, >=30 -> 2.518; family none 0, parent_or_sibling 0.728, parent_and_sibling 0.753; smoking never 0, former -0.218, current 0.855; Griffin 2000 logistic risk of undetected type 2 diabetes; age 40-64

Worked example

50-year-old male, BMI 24, no meds, no family history, never smoker

Given: age=50antihypertensive=falsebmi_kg_m2=24family_history=nonesex=malesmoking=neversteroids=false

  1. Male 0; BMI 24 <25 -> 0; antihypertensive false 0; steroids false 0; family none 0; smoking never 0
  2. λ = -6.322 + 0.063×50 = -3.172
  3. p = 1/(1+e^(3.172)) = 0.0402

Parameters

Name Type Required Description
age integer required Age in years. Griffin 2000 derivation was ages 40-64; magent accepts that published range only. Continuous linear predictor at 0.063 per year.
sex string required · female, male female or male. Griffin 2000 female coefficient is -0.879; male is the reference (0).
bmi_kg_m2 number required Body-mass index in kg/m^2 (10-80, magent clamp). Caller-supplied; magent does not compute BMI from height and weight. Griffin 2000: <25 -> 0; >=25 and <27.5 -> 0.699; >=27.5 and <30 -> 1.97; >=30 -> 2.518.
antihypertensive boolean required Prescribed antihypertensive medication as assigned by the caller (Griffin 2000). true adds 1.222; false adds 0. magent does not read a medication list.
steroids boolean required Prescribed steroids as assigned by the caller (Griffin 2000). true adds 2.191; false adds 0. magent does not read a medication list.
family_history string required · none, parent_or_sibling, parent_and_sibling First-degree family history of diabetes (Griffin 2000). none 0; parent_or_sibling 0.728 (parent or sibling, not both); parent_and_sibling 0.753 (parent and sibling). magent does not take a pedigree.
smoking string required · never, former, current Smoking history (Griffin 2000). never (nonsmoker) 0; former (ex-smoker) -0.218; current 0.855. magent does not take a smoking history.

Bulk (POST)

POST the same path with a JSON items array. The first item is the GET unit; each additional item is $0.002. Invalid items return HTTP 400 before settlement.

POST /api/calc/cambridge_diabetes Max 25 unit_amount + extra_item_amount * (n - 1) extra $0.002 PREVIEW

  • 1 to 25 items. Each item uses the same keys as the GET query parameters.
  • POST of 1 item costs the same as GET. Lists longer than 25: chunk into multiple POSTs. Extra items still execute; do not pad dummy rows.
  • The first invalid item fails the whole request (index in the 400 JSON). You are not charged.
  • HTTP 200 is {count, path, items}. Each items[i] is the GET 200 body for that row.
  • Catalog misses (empty matches, found=false) stay paid 200s inside that slot.
  • x402 resource URL is this path plus n and body_sha256. Browsers that prefer text/html get the same paywall as GET; Pay retries POST with the same items.

Payment

Unpaid requests return HTTP 402 even if query parameters or POST items are missing or invalid, so CDP and agents can index the path. After a PAYMENT-SIGNATURE, invalid params return HTTP 400 JSON before settlement. magent does not charge. Fix the params, then request a new 402 quote for that complete URL. Catalog misses (empty matches, found=false) are valid paid 200s. Unpaid valid requests return HTTP 402 with a base64 PAYMENT-REQUIRED header. HTTP 503 is not a new quote: retry the same PAYMENT-SIGNATURE. Full handshake and shared payment errors: Payments. Stdio MCP: /docs/mcp.

Guarantees

  • HTTP 402 is unpaid, including a missing query. After PAYMENT-SIGNATURE, invalid parameters return HTTP 400 before settlement. You are not charged. HTTP 402 never includes the tool JSON.
  • exact: settlement finishes before the tool (paymentFlow upfront). batch-settlement: verify/deposit before the tool; chargedCumulativeAmount commits after HTTP 2xx. Uncertain or failed settlement fails closed (HTTP 503). Retry the same PAYMENT-SIGNATURE.
  • HTTP 402 is unpaid only. Do not sign a second authorization because of a 503.
  • Execution is timeout-bounded and concurrency-capped.
  • Calculator inputs are stored encrypted for allowlisted operators (Magent Console). They are not in public logs, SSH lookups, catalog, or rollups. Request logs store path without query.
